Shell Oil Company selects NCR as consumer transaction technologies provider option for its U.S. retail operations
More than 14,000 Shell retailers can now opt for a complete software, hardware and services solution from NCR to reduce costs and enhance customer service
Duluth, GA, May 6, 2014 – NCR Corporation, the global leader in consumer transaction technologies, announced today that Shell Oil Company, the largest petroleum retail brand in the U.S., has added NCR’s Radiant Point of Sale (RPOS) petroleum and convenience solutions as a new option for Shell Branded Wholesalers.
Beginning today, Shell branded wholesalers not only have a new choice to handle the everyday transactions inside the store and at the fuel pump, but also handle the demands of complex food service operations. The RPOS solution dramatically simplifies remote management, delivering improved uptime and reducing the total cost of ownership.
“Consumers have a variety of choices today when it comes to fueling and convenience,” said Eric Stecker, vice president and general manager, Petroleum and Convenience, NCR Retail. “We can now offer Shell branded wholesalers the RPOS solution, allowing them to add mobile, tablet, cloud, and food service solutions that can dramatically reduce wait times, increase customer satisfaction and increase efficiency of operations. NCR looks forward to helping Shell create an improved customer experience – one that separates their service from competitors.”
The NCR RPOS solution provides retailers with a layer of redundancy allowing an entire site to remain operational even if they have an issue with a single POS device. The intuitive design and software on the RPOS solution makes bringing new employees on board much easier, allowing them to quickly get up to speed and provide good customer
service. Software updates can be made remotely from central office locations and do not require the site to shut down when changes are made.
Today, NCR handles more than 125,000 consumer transactions around the world every minute.
