NCR and Cathay United Bank Win Award for APTRA Connections Software Implementation

NCR APTRA Connections enables Cathay United Bank be the first in Taiwan to deliver personalized ATM transactions to enhance customer experiences

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, April 16, 2015- NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), the global leader in consumer transaction technologies, and Cathay United Bank (“CUB”) have jointly won the award for “Best ATM and Kiosk Project” at the Asian Banker Technology Implementation Awards 2015, for the successful implementation of NCR’s innovative APTRA Connections software across its automated teller machine (“ATM”) network. The solution offers personalized ATM transactions to increase customer satisfaction in a highly efficient and low cost way. NCR also partnered with Pershing Systems Corporation, a renowned information technology reseller in Taiwan, on this project.

The solution enables CUB to recognize their customers and display a personalized greeting message. Customers can customize their ATM menu by pre-selecting favorite transaction options that include their usual cash withdrawal amount, bank transfer, QR Code scanning, bill payment options such as life insurance loan and payment, donation and auctions. The solution makes customers live easier with fewer screens to navigate and save time – as much as 33 percent faster than a typical transaction. NCR APTRA Connections is now running on more than 500 ATMs from NCR and other vendors.

Considered the most prestigious of its kind, the awards are widely recognized by the financial services industry in the Asia Pacific region. The awards program is designed to identify emerging best practices in technology implementations as well as to identify implementation goals and challenges from which other banks and vendors can learn. Based on a rigorous three-month selection process by a panel of advisors formed by industry leaders and academics, the winning entries are evaluated on evidences of innovation including new concepts, new technologies or creative concepts that distinguishes the project.
